A Missouri woman was taken into custody after she walked into a police station and confessed to murdering two of her children. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said that 36-year-old Ashley Parmeley drowned her two-year-old son in a fountain near the Timber Creek Resort, which is on the outskirts of St. Louis.

Parmeley then drove 13 miles to the Festus Police Department, went inside the police station, and admitted to killing two of her children. Officials found her nine-year-old daughter in her car with a gunshot wound. While officers attempted to perform life-saving treatment, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials believe that Parmeley shot her while driving to the police station.

Parmeley was charged with one count of second-degree murder relating to the death of her two-year-old son. Officials said they are still investigating and said that more charges are likely when the case is brought to the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

"It's such a tragedy for our community," Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak said. "Pray for the family, and I'd ask you to say a special prayer for our first responders."
