Investigators have linked alleged serial killer Rex Heuermann to an additional murder, according to a report from Newsday. Two sources told the outlet that Heuermann will appear in court on Thursday (June 6) to be arraigned on additional charges.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney confirmed the hearing but did not say what Heuermann will be charged with when he faces State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei.

"On Thursday, you will see the fruits of that investigation," Tierney told reporters. "Once that court proceeding unfurls, we'll have more comment."

The new charge comes days after investigators searched Heurermann's home in Massapequa Park for a second time.

Heuermann was arrested last year and has been charged with murdering four women, Melissa Barthelemy, 24; Megan Waterman, 22; Amber Costello, 27, and Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, and disposing of their bodies in a remote area of Gilgo Beach on Long Island.

While searching the area where the bodies were discovered, authorities uncovered seven other victims. Some of the remains date back to the late 1990s and early 2000s. Their deaths remain under investigation.
