Two Florida college sports teams will soon have a new rivalry.

USF is already a member of the American Athletic Conference and it was announced on Thursday that Florida Atlantic will be one of six universities leaving Conference USA to join the AAC, potentially as soon as 2023.

The move will mean more national exposure for FAU.

The Owls and Bulls have only faced off on the football field four times, with the most recent game coming in 2013. Having both in the same conference means that will be a much more common occurrence.

South Florida will lose its I-4 rival UCF, which is leaving the AAC for the Big 12 at an undetermined future date.

The other Conference USA teams heading to the AAC are UAB, Charlotte, North Texas, Rice and UTSA.

Cincinnati and UCF are joining Central Florida in their departure from the AAC to the Big 12.
