State Attorney: Safety Harbor Suspect Shooting Justified

LARGO -- The state attorney in Pinellas County rules a police involved shooting last June was justified.

On June 30th, Pinellas Deputies shot and killed 43 year old Robert Hubbard, when they say he pulled a BB gun on them after they forced him off the road in Safety Harbor.

The 43 year old man was wanted in connection with theft of a golf cart in Hillsborough, and an attempted robbery in Trinity.

The state attorney's letter says that gun looked too much like a real firearm for deputies to assume otherwise. Hubbard's autopsy revealed cocaine and marijuana, along with clonazepam (Klonopin) in his system.
