Man Admits to Torching Hernando County Sheriff's Patrol Car

A Spring Hill man who says he does "stupid things" when he's drunk is now charged with arson for setting a Hernando County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle on fire.

Deputies say Anthony Tarduno noticed the vehicle at an apartment complex in the area of Northcliffe Blvd and decided he wanted to set it on fire. He told deputies he was a "professional arsonist," but "felt bad" and decided to confess.

He also said he didn't target the vehicle because it was a patrol car. Any car parked there, he told deputies, would have been a target.
