(Miami, Fla) - Forecasters are predicting a wet weekend for South Florida as a low-pressure system in the Atlantic makes its way east toward the Florida Straits.
Miami National Weather Service meteorologist Don Harrigan says South Florida can expect several 3-6 inches of rain.
Harrigan promises the system won't hit Florida as a tropical storm, but once the system moves into the Gulf, the warm water could fuel development into a named storm, Emily.
However, Harrigan says there's still the chance that another system brewing in the Mid-Atlantic could become Emily before this one.
Harrigan says fortunately this latest deluge is not expected to be as bad as the recent rainfall that caused historic flooding in Broward County.
