A Port St. Lucie 4-year old didn't live to see the new year. Police say the girl drowned after wandering into the backyard pool at her home on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the home along Southeast Bayfront Avenue and found the child on the pool deck where a family member was performing CPR. She was rushed to the hospital by fire rescue crews and pronounced dead.
Investigators say the girl accessed the pool area through an unlocked door in the home and surveillance footage shows her walking down the steps into the pool. She would be found face down in the water just ten minutes later.
Port St. Lucie Police say the death appears to be accidental and they don't suspect foul play..
