FLORIDA - South Florida will commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with parades, festivals, and service events across Miami-Dade and Broward counties to honor the late civil rights leader's legacy.

In Miami, the annual MLK Miami Parade and Celebration will take place on Monday, January 20, beginning at 11 a.m.

The parade will start at Northwest Seventh Avenue and move along Northwest 54th Street to 32nd Avenue.

This two-and-a-half-hour procession follows the historic path Dr. King walked during his visits to Miami.

The parade will feature high school marching bands, student athletes, dance teams, and floats carrying local politicians and activists.

It concludes near Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park, where a family-friendly festival will run from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The festival will offer live music, dancing, cultural performances, food vendors, and a marketplace.

For those looking to give back, the MLK Day of Service at Dunns Overtown Farm and Teach the Truth Garden invites participants to honor Dr. King’s legacy through action.

Starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m., attendees can take a guided history walk through Overtown, learn about the area’s cultural heritage, and join in gardening activities at the farm.

Dr. Marvin Dunn will also deliver a keynote speech during the event.

In Broward County, Fort Lauderdale’s King Holiday Celebration Parade will feature a march for non-violence along Sistrunk Boulevard.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m., concluding at Carter Park.

Dania Beach will host its own celebration with the MLK Renaissance Corp Parade, starting at 9 a.m. at CW Thomas Park (100 NW 8th Ave.) and finishing at Frost Park (300 NE 2nd St.).

After the parade, attendees can enjoy a festive celebration featuring bounce houses, food trucks, and music.
