The Town of Palm Beach is putting out a warning to visitors to the famous Worth Avenue and other areas offering paid parking.
A scam involves the ParkMobile website and app, which is used by municipalities across the state to allow drivers to pay to park.
Palm Beach Police say a fraudulent website posing as the official ParkMobile site "will actively attempt to steal your information and money." It recently happened to a software engineer, who called attention to it.
The advice is to download the ParkMobile app directly from the Apple App Store or Google Play, to avoid going to a fake site or fake app.
Also, Palm Beach ParkMobile signs on parking spaces do not feature QR codes, so don't use one if you see it because it has been stuck there by a scammer.
