My personal definitions for the words praise & worship are not definitive, they're just mine.
Praise, I have always felt, was singing about God and His Son, Jesus. Usually it's up tempo and celebratory by nature. Worship has been generally defined by me to be intimate singing to God and to Jesus and, for me, it can generate deep emotion.
Music can do that, it can touch a place in our soul, but praise and worship is a whole different deal because it goes deeper, it grabs our spirit. Many of you can confirm the difference. I can hear a melody - a piano, guitar (no voices needed) and it does something inside, but if it is to or for God...it just goes deeper.
Phil Wickham seems to be tapping into something, though he has been at it since 2003. A lot of his songs are making their way into churches. When I stumbled upon the new release of "Worthy Of My Song" it hammered me. I chose this simplified version (with lyrics). I hope it blesses you.
